Frequently Asked Questions - E-mail Services - E-mail Setup

The new mail server provides more expedient and protected services to our members.  The basic information that you need to configure any e-mail program is:

POP Server:      mail.domainname.com

SMTP Server:    mail.domainname.com

Username:         name.domainname.com

Password:          as specified by the user

Below are some popular e-mail clients and step-by-step instructions on how to configure them.



Eudora


Setting up Eudora to retrieve your mail is pretty simple. As seen below, this step by step setup will help you get your mail.

Within Eudora, Select "Tools" and then Select "Options".

  1. Within the Tool Bar on the left side of the Box, Select "Getting Started"
  2. Enter your POP Account Information, example mail.domainname.com
    (the following two steps are optional)
  3. Enter your Real Name, example John Doe
  4. Enter your Return Address, example username@domainname.com

After completing the first section, Select "Checking Mail" within the Tool Bar.

  1. Verify that the Mail Server information is correct.
  2. Enter your Login Name: name.domainame.com

After completing the last section, Select "Sending Mail" within the Tool Bar.

  1. Verify that the Return Address information is correct.
  2. Verify the SMTP Server: mail.domainame.com



Microsoft Outlook

Go to the following menu:

Tools --> Accounts in Outlook 98
Tools --> Accounts then Add --> Mail in Outlook 98 Internet Edition

Highlight internet mail and then push the properties button.

Fill in the correct information as indicated below:

Full Name: your full name
Email Address: yourname@yourdomain.com
Internet Mail Server: mail.yourdomainname.com
Account name: yourname.yourdomain.com
Password: The password for the pop3 account.



Netscape Mail


Go to Edit then select Preferences

Next select Mail & Newsgroups

Select Identity

Fill out Your Name: User Name

Enter your Email Address: name.domainname.com@mail.domainname.com

Note: This is only for logging into the centralized mail server. Your email address is still name@domain.com

Select Mail Servers

Click Edit

Fill out as shown above

Once you are finished, click OK and the screen should be like this.
